With quite a few leagues starting new seasons in September we decided to introduce the 23/24 calendar.
We have spoken to a number of players across Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire & Warwickshire around how the calendar would look and have had some really positive feedback. So here is some more info around what we are planning and how the next 12 months will look.
The calendar is divided in to 2 seasons:
Season 1 - Sept 23 - Feb 24
Season 2 - Mar 24 - Aug 24
Further down this blog there is more info around the different parts and important dates.
Here is what the 3 calendars look like:
Seasons
There are a number of leagues that are still in the middle of their current seasons. These leagues will continue their current seasons and will start the new format after the end of Season 1 (Feb 24). Obviously we understand that these leagues in question may finish their current season in October or November; therefore, we will have interim fixtures until the start of Season 2 - these will be communicated to each of the league captains.
Below is a list of which leagues will start with Season 1 (Sept 23) and which leagues will continue their current season and then move to interim fixtures until the end of Season 1 (Feb 24):
(Fixtures for teams starting Season 1 will be sent on the Week Commencing 21st August 2023.)
Northamptonshire
(Mixed Wootton Monday League has not yet started but when it does it will operate outside of the seasons - we will communicate to the teams captains, of this league, regarding fixtures)

Also Bishops Itchington Wednesday League has not yet started but when it does it will operate outside of the seasons - we will communicate to the teams captains, of this league, regarding fixtures)

Key Dates
All the calendars have some key dates to be aware of within the season.
Each regions dates differ slightly.
No Matches - Scheduled breaks within the season to account for Christmas, Easter and Bank Holidays
End of Season Break - A break between the 2 seasons
Optional Friendlies - August will see optional friendlies for teams to join if they so wish
Obviously we understand that each league differs in terms of how many matches there are, due to the number of teams/divisions. Therefore, to freshen things up and break up the season's competitiveness, within the seasons we may schedule variations of the game (power play, versatility, handicap etc.). These variations will be included in the fixtures that get sent out to the captains and published on the website.
Events
To help participants plan ahead, we have included all our events, tournaments and socials for the whole year. The venues are subject to change however, the dates are in the diary for all to see.

Events we have planned for the year are as follows:
Local Awards Evenings - these will be in the form of a Bingo Night for local leagues rather than regional leagues. The Local Awards Evenings will be a chance to celebrate the season as well as have a social evening with other players, teams and umpires. More info can be found on our Events Section on our website.

Saturday, 13th April 2024 - Regular & Mixed Tournament - Warwickshire (venue TBC)
Saturday, 15th June 2024 - Inter-League Tournament - Northampton (venue TBC)
Saturday, 24th August 2024 - Regular & Mixed Tournament - Milton Keynes (venue TBC)
Regional Summer Awards - in the summer we plan on doing a day for the whole family to come and celebrate the season. This event will be a day event and will include things like bouncy castles, food vendors, live music and alcohol, alongside the awards. With it being a day event we hope that more people will be able to join us and enjoy the "beer garden" type feel whilst the kids enjoy the bouncy castles and games (if the weather is good - if not we will have indoor capability).
We hope that the new calendar will help all with their planning and preparing over the year.
